Chapter Summary

What Happens

Joey lives happily on the farm and he and Albert grow closer. One day the father comes in and tries to get Joey to plough, but Joey kicks him. The father gives Albert an ultimatum: teach Joey to plough, or he will get rid of him. Albert becomes stern and firm with Joey in order to get him to plough. Joey eventually succeeds. At the very end of the chapter, the father tells the family that Britain is at war with Germany.
